Did you know the Conservation Areas Workshop has a bursary program? We know budgets are tight and we are committed to assisting members of our community to access the remarkable learning and networking opportunity that is CAW. Weather you’re a first-time attendee, or a returning participant, we welcome all to apply in our effort to reduce financial barriers to learning.

Bursary FAQs

  • The bursary covers your full workshop registration fee which includes all applicable meals and overnight accommodation during the workshop. It does not cover transportation or accommodation costs to get to and from the workshop, or any wages associated with your absence from work. The bursary does not cover the additional accommodation of fellow coworkers, family, friends, or spouses.

  • Bursary application must be received by September 28, 2025 with recipients being notified by October 10, 2025.

  • Conservation Areas Workshop Bursary

    The Conservation Areas Workshop Committee is committed to assisting members of the Conservation Authority community to access the remarkable learning and networking opportunity that is the Conservation Areas Workshop. The CA Workshop Bursary aims to remove financial barriers for those wishing to attend. The CA Workshop Bursary is awarded to staff that showcase how attending the workshop will benefit their growth and development within their role and how they will pass their experience and what they have learned onto others within their Conservation Authority.

    Conservation Ontario proudly supports the Conservation Areas Workshop Bursary, helping deserving staff access this well-regarded annual workshop and invest in their professional growth and development.

    Bruce Harschnitz Memorial Bursary

    The Bruce Harschnitz Memorial Bursary, awarded annually to a Conservation Authority staff member who exemplifies the true spirit of teamwork and demonstrates a commitment to best conservation practices and principles. The awarded recipient supports the growth and success of their peers and team, reflecting Bruce's dedication to collaboration and excellence in conservation.

  • We are looking for a clear understanding of how your attendance will benefit your personal professional development and how you will share your experience and what you have learned with others at your CA. We are also looking for an understanding of the barriers you are facing with regards to attending the workshop.

  • Applicants will be informed of the results by October 10, 2025.
